Mind Food: Books & Audiobooks That Inspire Me

There’s something magical about getting lost in a good book—whether it's for ten minutes or an hour. On days when I can't get cozy and read, I'll use the time while getting ready to listen to a book summary instead. That’s why I’ve been loving Blinkist, an app that lets you listen to the key points of a book in just 10–20 minutes. It’s perfect for when I’m getting ready in the morning, driving, or winding down at night.

What I love most about Blinkist is that it gives you just the essentials—no fluff, no filler, just the most important lessons and takeaways. It’s like having a friend who reads the whole book and then sits down to give you exactly the wisdom you need. Plus, it’s a great way to sample a book before committing to reading or listening to the full version. Some days I’ll use Blinkist to explore new topics I’ve never thought about, and other days I’ll dive into a summary of a book I’ve already read to refresh my memory.
One book that has stayed with me for years is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Its spiritual message about being present and letting go of past and future worries has shaped the way I see life. It’s a reminder that peace isn’t something we “find” later—it’s something we choose in each moment.
I’m also a big fan of Audible for full-length listens. My most recent pick? Emotional Intelligence Habits by Travis Bradberry. It’s been eye-opening to learn how managing our emotions and understanding others can transform not only relationships but also our own mental health.
Whether you read with your eyes, your ears, or both—making time for books is one of the most nourishing acts of self-love you can give yourself.
